Financial Data Upload & Sharing Terms
Effective date: 05 January 2026 (Terms version date)
Company: Terraledge Ltd, incorporated in England & Wales (company number 16696441) ("we", "us", "our").
You / User: the individual using our service ("you", "your").
These terms apply when you share financial information with us outside Open Banking, for example by uploading documents, sending files, or manually inputting data.
What you are authorising us to do
When you share financial data with us, you authorise us to:
- Receive and store the data you provide (including files and metadata).
- Extract and structure information from it (e.g., transaction tables, holdings, fees, categories).
- Analyse and display it back to you (dashboards, insights, comparisons, alerts, reports).
- Use it to provide the features you request, including combining it with other data you provide later.
You are not granting us authority to access your bank accounts directly unless we explicitly offer that in the future under separate terms.
What counts as "Financial Data"
"Financial Data" includes anything you provide that relates to your finances, for example:
- Bank statements, credit card statements, payslips, tax documents.
- Broker/investment/pension statements, contract notes.
- Spreadsheets/CSVs, exports from other apps.
- Screenshots, PDFs, images of statements.
- Manual entry (balances, liabilities, assets, income/expenses).
- Notes you provide about accounts, goals, obligations, dependants, etc.
Your responsibilities (important)
You confirm that:
- You have the right to share the Financial Data with us.
- If the data includes information about someone else (e.g., spouse/partner, family member), you have their permission or another lawful basis to share it.
- You won't send us credentials (bank passwords, OTPs, card PINs). If you do, we may delete them and ask you to re-share securely.
- You'll review outputs for accuracy before relying on them.
How you share the data (and safer channels)
We may offer multiple upload/share methods. Some channels (e.g., email attachments, WhatsApp) can be less secure than in-app upload. If you choose a less secure channel, you accept that risk.
We may refuse or delete files that appear unsafe (malware, suspicious links) or breach these terms.
AI / automated processing
We may use automated tools (including machine learning/LLMs) to:
- Read and extract values from documents.
- Categorise transactions and identify fees/charges.
- Generate summaries, explanations, and comparisons.
We'll design features to reduce obvious errors, but automation can be wrong. You should treat outputs as assistance, not ground truth.
No regulated advice unless we explicitly say so
Unless we clearly state otherwise in writing, the service provides information and tools, not personal financial advice or a recommendation to buy/sell/hold products.
Privacy, lawful basis, and your rights
We process personal data in line with our Privacy Notice and UK GDPR.
Typical lawful bases we rely on include:
- Contract (to provide the service you requested), and/or
- Consent (where we explicitly ask for it), and/or
- Legitimate interests (e.g., product security, preventing abuse), where appropriate.
You have rights such as access, correction, deletion (in some cases), restriction, objection, and portability - details in our Privacy Notice.
Sharing with service providers (processors)
We may share Financial Data with trusted vendors who help us run the service (e.g., cloud hosting, document processing, analytics, customer support). They act as processors under contract and must protect your data.
We do not sell your Financial Data.
International transfers
If any of our vendors process data outside the UK, we will use appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses) as described in our Privacy Notice.
Retention and deletion
We retain your Financial Data for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate purposes like security, dispute handling, and legal compliance.
If you delete content or close your account, we will delete or anonymise data where feasible, except where retention is required or justified (e.g., compliance, fraud prevention, audit trails).
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data (e.g., encryption, access controls). No system is 100% secure; you agree to take sensible steps too (secure devices, strong passwords, notify us if you suspect compromise).
Limitations and liability
Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for:
- Inaccuracies in documents you provide.
- Your decisions made based on outputs without verification.
- Losses caused by your choice of insecure sharing channel.
- Third-party outages/failures outside our control.
Our total liability is limited to: Fees paid in last 12 months.
Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are material, we will notify you and (where needed) ask you to re-accept.
Governing law
England & Wales law applies, and courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction (subject to mandatory consumer protections).
